'Hawthorns & Hayfields'

This piece is another one from my recent Saltspring
sojourn. As you can see the sun was hard to find.
But still the area we painted in made up for the lack of
sunny skies. As I mentioned in my last post the bird life
around these fields is fantastic, the swallows in particular.
It has been awhile since I saw so many Tree swallows along
with the Barns and Violet-Greens. The highlight
of the trip (in the birding area) were the
Goldfinches we encountered!

The sun may have been hard to find, but the ethereal light on the field is lovely and you've got that great sense of place represented, too.

Thanks Melinda...it was so still and quiet while we painted with swallows swooping through the sky sometimes just missing us!
