Hi again Jeffrey!... Looking at this colourful piece is like peeling back an onion. You must grip each level of skin and work layer by layer inwardly to reveal "the meat" of the subject.
And yes... there are tears involved in the process - tears of joy and pleasure!
A lovely reminder of the freshness of April!

Thanks Bruce...it is amazing how when you look at a painting from before, it puts you right back there. You can feel the heat or the cold, smell the scents or feel the wind...

Something I particularly like in this painting is the way the apricot and turquoise of the sky contrast with the cooler blues of the mountains, and then the turquoise is repeated in the water just below.

Those colours are often apparent when painting from this location in the later part of the day.
There where many warblers, Flickers and others all around while I painted this.
