'Salish Sea Arbutus'

"Once there was a lovely old Arbutus tree
She clung to the bank and leaned out over the sea
Dancing with all those winter gales took its toll
Now she lies across the beach
Arms entwined with the Salish Sea
It is the way it was meant to be..."

'Coastal Beauty'

As I sit here languishing in late summer bliss,
here on the south Island we are enjoying some of the
best weather of the year, I feel somewhat of a
grasshopper whiling away the days as
the cool wet months approach.
The beauty of the west coast  is never ending
for me. The sensuous grace of the Arbutus trees,
there fox red bark splitting in the August heat.
The newly exposed, smooth, pale green of the new bark
compels my caress.
Often situated in the most gravity defying locations their
ancient beauty is mesmerizing.
