'Morning Pastels'

I painted this piece early last spring from
a small cove not far from my studio.
Just as I was getting close to finishing
I could hear the fog horn from Trial Island light
to the north east indicating the approach
of fog. It had been the distant fog that
had created the wonderful hue to this scene.
Somewhat diffused and yet morning fresh...

Early Morning-Saxe Point

Hi everyone,
I was back painting at Saxe Point park early Friday morning.
I choose this perspective to try and capture the wonderful
sky above the distant shore and the Olympic mountains.
At this time of year there is a special quality of light that
is very unique to late summer/early fall here on the
south island and one I am trying to paint.
Oil on wood panel 9 x 12.
Comments always very much appreciated!

'Approaching Fog' **SOLD**

I was out early yesterday at Saxe Point for a paint and
caught the fog bank as it was trying to come over
the hills to the west. It was a beauty of a morning to
be out and thankfully the fog never made it over.
Oil on board 6 x 6.

Saxe Point Rocks

This is another in a series of small ones I have been doing
featuring the beautiful shoreline of Saxe Point park
that juts out into the Strait of Juan du Fuca
just a short distance from my studio. This is one of three
I have recently painted looking from different
directions, all within a few feet of each other.
This one I did Saturday afternoon under the watchful
eyes of several friendly art lovers.
Oil on board 6 x 6.

Saxe Point Shore

Tide and wind conditions allowed me to set up right on
the rocks at the waters edge yesterday for this painting.
Feeling the hot sun and breathing the moist sea air
while painting this piece I once again felt so thankful
to live within walking distance to this wonderful
spot. Saxe Point Park is a jewel of Esquimalt
and the greater Victoria region.

Sunset on a Rocky Shore *SOLD*

I have painted this particular point of land many times
in the past always trying for different angles and time
of day as well the seasonal differences in the light.
It is a lovely spot that I am actually able to see
from my studio. This view was taken looking to the
South West at sunset. I'm am continually amazed at
the never ending differences in colour and light that
I can see from day to day just in this one spot.
Oil on canvas 6 x 8.
Comments always appreciated.
