Highrock Light

This piece was painted en plein air last Thursday

during a lovely break in the weather.

I tried to capture that special quality of light that

happens at this time of year when the air still carries

lots of moisture. As well, I used a limited palette.

Oil on canvas 9 x 12.

Autumn Light

I painted this from a photograph I took while out painting
a couple of weeks ago. Another of the remnant pockets
of Garry Oak meadow here on the South Island. This one is
a wonderful little park in Esquimalt. I plan to do many
more paintings in this amazing little spot.

Morning Mist

Morning sun streaming through a heavy mist makes

visual alterations to the landscape around us.

Adding dimension here and taking away there until

it sometimes feels as though we have been

transported to a different place.

Sounds are also affected, at times more intense

and muffled at others. Different hues of colour

emerge to intensify the changes to the landscape.
