One of the most exotic features of spring in the south west corner of British Columbia are the
flowers of our native Big Leaf maples.
When lit by the spring sun, their beautiful
yellow green flowers and the new unfurling leaves,
make a striking sight against the dark greens
of the surrounding forest.
These tasty edibles were an important addition
to the spring time diets of our first peoples.
