Farm Fresh - Cowichan Station **SOLD**

As summer fades away this lonely farm stand still
has organic produce available to passers by. We spent
an afternoon in this area a week ago and got
some of the best cherry tomatoes ever from this stand!
The Big Leaf maple behind the stand was already large
when, in the 1880's, Cowichan Station was a thriving
community on the Esquimalt-Nanaimo Railroad.
By the early 1920's fires, depression and changed fortunes
left little to tell of the hotels, general stores and
many other businesses that once provided this still
vibrant farming area a town centre. The E&N still
stops here, though now it is mostly just a lovely spot
on the river, just off the beaten path to Duncan.
It is a very magical place who's history and spirits remain
hidden to most who pass through here.
Oil on board 8 x 10.
Comments are always welcomed.

I agree with Linny. You communicate the light and the feel of the region so well. I feel as though I need a sweater when viewing your paintings, even as it is 95 degrees here. I just love that!

You continue to inspire me.

Thanks Melinda! It was such a crystal day, the kind of day you wish you could pull a lever and stop time for awhile.

Haven't been browsing or painting and you've been busy. Nice stuff, insane light and colour, people get locked up for a lot less. Captures the time of year. Enjoy whats left of that light!

Oh, that bit about stopping time; up here in Cumberland people seem to do it not by pulling a lever but by smoking a gagger!

El-lo!! Good one Jeffrey. Great subject matter and rendering, from your resultant painting I can tell that you liked it too.
