View from Raven Hill

Last Friday I painted at a little farm that sits
on the south slope above Mount Newton Crossroads
out on the Saanich Pennisula. This is the view
looking back toward Victoria to the south.
Raven Hill Herb Farm produces wonderful array
of herbs and gave our band of pleinairists free
range for a morning paint.

Summer Sanctuary

This piece is one of a group of larger canvases
that I have been working on for awhile now.
As you can tell from the title
it is a very special place in my world.
A place where one can, for a short time,
let life's problems drift away
as my consciousness melds with the scents
and sounds of the forest.
The cool water washes over you and your spirit
lifts as you scan the surrounding hills
and the sky above. Once again I marvel
at the wonder of our natural world and sense
the spirits that surely inhabit this place.

Morning Sky-Esquimalt Lagoon

Hello everyone,
Well life is settling down a little bit and I'm finally
getting this piece posted that was painted a couple
of weeks ago now. A friend and I met out at the mouth of
Esquimalt Lagoon that morning and were somewhat
surprised by a dramatic change of weather. We went from
hot and sunny and sunscreen to grabbing our jackets
and hanging on to our easels while trying to paint fast.
All told we spent about two hours and finished with
hot weather once again!!
I hope to be posting more regularly
in the days to come.
(I think the title needs a little work!)
Oil on wood panel 11 x 14.
Comments are always appreciated and hoped for.
Please send me an email if you are interested
in acquiring this painting.
