Summer Sanctuary

This piece is one of a group of larger canvases
that I have been working on for awhile now.
As you can tell from the title
it is a very special place in my world.
A place where one can, for a short time,
let life's problems drift away
as my consciousness melds with the scents
and sounds of the forest.
The cool water washes over you and your spirit
lifts as you scan the surrounding hills
and the sky above. Once again I marvel
at the wonder of our natural world and sense
the spirits that surely inhabit this place.
'Summer Sanctuary'
Oil on canvas
30 x 36.
Comments always appreciated.

Oh my, Jeffrey. This is dazzling. I can sense the atmosphere--the coolness, the sun's warmth, perhaps a gentle breeze coming up from the water. Wow. Wish I could get out of this heat and be there. It would be great. And, as you've described, it would be peaceful.

This is simply stunning. Bravo!

Your dappled light is inspiring. I have difficulty with that.
It's a beautiful painting, and a beautiful sentiment.

Hey Melinda, thanks so much! It is a very special place in my world.

As for heat...though its not hot by your area's standards, we are having a heat wave phenomenon, seen only three times since the
1880's!!! It was 32 degrees celsius
here today!
