I painted this piece using a plein air paintingthat I did this spring as a reference. It was a surprise
how, while painting this piece, I was taken right back
to that lovely day in late May of this year. The sky
seemed full of swallows darting after flying insects,
dozens of Turkey vultures swooping low over the hay fields
and landing as they hunted for newly exposed food.
The sweet smell of fresh cut hay.
Oil on canvas 6 x 8.
