March Sky-Oak Bay

I worked this painting up from a smaller plein
air piece I did back in March ;)).
I have been trying to paint cloudy day paintings this
year without the "dreary", something I
tend to struggle to accomplish.
Oil on linen 18 x 14.
Comments always welcomed!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"We worked from early morning until dark in sun,
grey weather or in rain. In the evening by lamp or candlelight
each showed the others his sketches.
This was a time for criticism, encouragement and
discussion, for our discoveries about painting, for our
thoughts about the character of the country and our
descriptions of effects in nature which differed in
each part of the country."
I think your clouds are awesome. You find those subtly beautiful variations in colors and emphasize them in just the right amounts. And they always end up feeling light and fresh. I think your hard work is paying off.
