'Highrock Solstice'

On Winter's Eve afternoon I painted in a
favourite spot not far from the studio.
It felt good being out painting on that crisp
day as I welcomed the return of the light
and marveled once again at the
natural beauty so close to home.
Two Flickers spent some time observing
my progress sitting just above me
in a young Garry Oak.

'A Fine Morning',

(Canadian west coast Impressionism, Fisgard Lighthouse, Winter Solstice, Salish Sea, Esquimalt Harbour)

* Happy Solstice Everyone! *
Finally the darkest days are in the rearview and the
light returns a little more each day, put your
hands in the air and yell hooray!!
(or what ever you think would be appropriate)
=:-/
What better way to celebrate the return of the light
then a sunny morning painting of
Fisgard Lighthouse,
the first light on the Salish Sea.
Built for the British Admiralty 150 years ago.
It marked the approach to the mouth of
Esquimalt Harbour where the navy had their
base here on the west coast of Canada.
This is a scene I have painted before in smaller formats.

'Winter Solstice' **SOLD**

I'm still on the snow paintings. Hard not to when you
wake up in a Lawren Harris painting every morning.
We will likely have a white Christmas this year on
the south end of Vancouver Island for the
first time in many years. It really is very
beautiful here right now in Victoria.
A snowy winter wonderland.
Oil on board 6 x 6.
