Misty Sundown

This is another in a series of paintings I am doing
of a small park that is quite close to my studio.
I mentioned to an artist friend of mine, KEN FAULKS
when we were plein air painting there a couple of days
ago, that I thought there where at least a hundred
paintings in this little park just waiting to be painted.
He is an exceptionally accomplished plein air painter.
Click on his name to get to his website.
Oil on board 6 x 6.
Comments always welcomed.

Lovely, Jeffrey! This painting has such a strong sense of atmosphere. I can tell that it is cold there. I'm hoping to see ninety-nine more from this area. Well, I mean...over time, of course!

Isn't it a pleasure to find a place that invites you back again and again to discover its secrets?

I'll check out your friend's site next....

Plein air painting is so very challenging, but you make it look easy.

Thanks so much Melinda and I'm workin' at it.
It's always a delight to find a place like this so close to home.

I have a strong desire to paint in the south west perhaps the Four Corners area or...?

Thank you so much, Jeffrey, for adding my blog to your list. It is an honor and I hope to live up to the compliment. How I wish I could paint with your sensibility! I really struggle, but am willing to keep trying.

You would really enjoy the Sedona area. It's pricey to stay there (there are some deals, though), but worth every minute. I don't know much about the four corners region, but I hear there are great places to paint there too. And then, there is the Grand Canyon--wow.

In the springtime, between early March to early April, the foothills area in Tucson, as well as Sabino Canyon, are spectacular places to paint. You just wouldn't enjoy our area after April or before October--much too hot.

Whenever you decide to make the trip, let me know and I'll help facilitate lodging and give the best advice as to where specifically to paint.
