'A Fine Morning',

(Canadian west coast Impressionism, Fisgard Lighthouse, Winter Solstice, Salish Sea, Esquimalt Harbour)

* Happy Solstice Everyone! *
Finally the darkest days are in the rearview and the
light returns a little more each day, put your
hands in the air and yell hooray!!
(or what ever you think would be appropriate)
=:-/
What better way to celebrate the return of the light
then a sunny morning painting of
Fisgard Lighthouse,
the first light on the Salish Sea.
Built for the British Admiralty 150 years ago.
It marked the approach to the mouth of
Esquimalt Harbour where the navy had their
base here on the west coast of Canada.
This is a scene I have painted before in smaller formats.

And Happy Solstice to you and yours, Jeffrey!

Excellent work here. I especially love how you handled the foreground with the crisscrossing of grasses/foliage.

I put my hands in the air and yelled hooray right along with you!

Best wishes for warm days and pleasant en plein air painting.

A lovely painting Jeffrey. I very much like the sky those clouds are moving well across the vast space. The sea sparkles and the fore ground is well painted too the grasses are full of life. The light house is way out in the distance I get that feeling from the perspective, this is not always easy to do. It is a fine morning in your painting indeed and it is full of the promise of better and lighter days ahead. Hooray! We also have a fine morning here in the highlands, plenty of deep snow though yet a crystal blue sky.
