Saltspring Pasture

Another sketch from my Saltspring Island sojourn.
In this piece I tried to capture that bright sunlight that
flashed up the field contrasted with the dappled shade
of this century's old maple, (the challenge may have
been out of my league =;-)).
Oil on wood panel 9 x 12.
Comments always welcomed!

Waters Edge Willow

Spent a wonderful few days on Saltspring Island
a couple of weeks ago. This native willow stands
at the waters edge beside a little beach on
the lake we stay at. The lake swimming weather was
the best we have ever had here at the end of May.
The nightly serenade of tree frogs and star filled
night skies and excellent fishing made for a
very relaxing time. This piece was painted
plein air one hot afternoon.
Oil on wood panel.
12 x 9.
Your comments are always appreciated!

Island Shore

The tidal shoreline with its many intricate patterns
provides endless opportunities for painting.
It is always changing, tides, wind, light all
combine to provide a different image but at the same
time holding on to something recognizable.
This one was done from a photo I took when
visiting Saltspring Island recently.
Acrylic on canvas 30 x 36.
