'Evening Tide- Juan de Fuca'

This piece was started as a demo
for one of the local art groups here in Victoria.
This is Esquimalts Macaulay Point looking
northeast to the entrance to Victoria Harbour.
The rough ground along the shoaling
shoreline makes for some incredible
wave action.

While I stood painting this piece  Friday

talk about another day in paradise!

'Tonquin Light'

Though it can be said that each geographic
area has its own special light,
none more so than here on the coast.
Attempting to capture the light with
a rapidly advancing weather system bearing
down on your location is always challenging.
Often we are forced to "play"
a little with reality.
Using both a small plein air piece
and photo's taken while painting it I
"played" with this piece
within the confines of the studio
and reality.

'Coastal Guardian'

Once again another year has passed into
memory, some cherished, others, perhaps not so much.
We will carry on making our art,
striving always to create more and improve our work.
Though it may at times seem completely out of
our reach. Always the process
will challenge us and ask more of us.
Often I feel somewhat saddened when I look at
the results of my artistic accomplishments of
the year just passed. Wishing I had
painted more, sold more, learned more...
but the process rescues me and my
vision becomes more clear and resolute and
it strengthens my hand.
The year ahead will bring with it discoveries never
imagined, successes and failures.

Several years ago now a hardy
 coastal resident boarding up his
windows preparing for the arrival of a hurricane
painted a message on one of the coverings...

"BRING IT ON JUAN"

Wishing you all the best in this year ahead.

'First Snow'

'First Snow' oil 24 x 36

The first snow of the year
 always takes me back
to wet socks with holes
and coats hung in the back
cold fingers aching
and snowmen in the making
with Christmas just round the corner

There have been a few first snows
since way back then
with more footprints in the snow
in different fens and glens
but when those flakes first start to fall
at once, I’m right back again
with Christmas just round the corner

~Jeffrey J. Boron~

Wishing you peace, love & joy,
a very Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year
Sincerely,
Jeffrey

'Soon Will Come The Rains'

'Soon Will Come The Rains'

'soon will come the rains
bringing life giving nectar to the trickling stream
gone will be the hot, grass hopper days of September
salmon and trout will complete their circle of life

the firs and ferns will glisten
cedars and willows will bow in celebration
as the stream returns to her life flow
soon will come the rains'

October Colour-Albert Head

This was painted a couple of weeks ago now
at a jewel of a park here on southern
Vancouver Island.
Fall is moving along and I must get out
more while the colour remains...

'Morning Pastels'

I painted this piece early last spring from
a small cove not far from my studio.
Just as I was getting close to finishing
I could hear the fog horn from Trial Island light
to the north east indicating the approach
of fog. It had been the distant fog that
had created the wonderful hue to this scene.
Somewhat diffused and yet morning fresh...

'West Coast Afternoon'

Along the west coast of Vancouver Island
the power and force of the Pacific
comes to shore.
At times it can be deceptively gentle but
more often it roars into the rocky
shoreline that bars it from advancing further.
Often it is a scene of muted greys,
but when the sun breaks free it
vibrates with fresh and startling colour.

'Shore Sister'

'With smooth flowing red limbs defying gravity
She leans out over the sandstone shelf towards the sea
Inviting an intimate touch
Her strength vibrates on your palm
I feel a sense of peace in her presence'

I remember making hay from fields of grass'

'Fields Of May'

'Today I walked through fields of grass
Tall and waving they hid half of me
Here and there bushes of wild roses stopped me
As I stood taking in their perfume
Barn swallows swooped low over the waving seed tops
My mind filled with memories
I breathed deeply
In these fields of May'

'Highrock Meadow'

Here on the south island another year of spring wild
flowers is drawing to a close.
It was such a joy to get out painting amongst them
and get some photo references for
more paintings.
Not sure what effect the lack of bees will have on
these precious spring friends.

'Once On A Moonlit Shore'

'Once on a moonlit shore
In silence I stood bathed in silver light
Watched herons hunt the shallows
Breathed deeply of the salty air
Felt the presence of those from times past
That will always walk this shore'

'Salish Sea Arbutus'

"Once there was a lovely old Arbutus tree
She clung to the bank and leaned out over the sea
Dancing with all those winter gales took its toll
Now she lies across the beach
Arms entwined with the Salish Sea
It is the way it was meant to be..."

"Winter's Retreat"

along with the warmth of eventide
standing and listening for the cavorting otter family
that just played past your silence
the early spring air brings different scents
and the promise of swallows in the sky...'

'The Turning Tide'

'The tide turn begins,
life in and around the sea quickens,
birds lift off from the rocks in a noisy snow storm,
swells rolling in from the open Pacific increase in size and intensity,
below fish feed and frenzies fill the sea in flashing silver,
birds funnel into the boiling shoals of bait,
the natural circle of life plays out in perfection,
as it has throughout time...'

'Aspenglo'

There is a moment in time,
on certain very special days,
just before the mauve and deep blues of
nights imminent arrival,
when the setting suns final touch
of light and colour,
turns the world within our sight,
into a display of
natures glorious beauty...
