One of the earliest flowering trees in the Pacific north westis our native Bird Cherry or Indian Plum. A somewhat
ordinary looking tree for the rest of the year, in
early spring it's exotic looking blooms seem to float
in the forest air. The upright yellow green leaves
appear like wings and give the blossoms the appearance
of flying forest fairies. The appearance of these fairies of
the forest is one of the surest harbringers of spring.
