September Dawn

A very cool and overcast fall day greeted our
gang of outsiders today at Beaver Lake.
I had gone hoping for colour and didn't let reality
get in the way. For the past few weeks we
have had the most glorious light just before
sunrise and it seems to have found its
way into today's plein air painting.
Oil on board 10 x 8.

Hi Jeffrey, beautiful diffused light in these. The whole Comox Valley is one big painting this time of year...I have to get out...

I've been looking at your blog and your paintings for quite a while and finally just have to say how much I enjoy your paintings. I look at them... it makes me feel I'm there. Can almost smell that early morning air.

Love it. Feels just like the moment where the sun peeks over the trees.
I am so excited to be heading to Nova Scotia for a week with 2 painter girlfriends!

This painting is exquisite! The quietness, the coolness, the sense of peace before the start of another day of busyness are rendered here with skill and a kind of reverence. Very inspirational.

Wow, thanks Melinda! I think I'm going to try a larger version of it maybe.
