This well know site on Victoria's Gorge Inlet has many historical aspects to it, one of which is that the school
house here is the oldest public building in all of
British Columbia. It was originally called the
Maple Point School, for obvious reasons.
It is now an official historic site and operated
as a museum of school life in the early days.
This is one of the larger pieces that will be in my
upcoming October show at the Morris Gallery.

The water! I was just working on water and reflections...I love how you kept your brush strokes separated and didn't blend it all together. It reads beautifully!

Oh I didn't even notice that it was acrylic! Is it because it slightly (?) dried as you worked that you were able to maintain that separation? I so seldom work with them. I'm curious about why you took your acrylics out with you that day rather than your oils? Do you prefer acrylic for certain things, oil for others?

Yes there are many techniques that work well with acrylics (right away) that are much tougher to do with oils. I switch back and fourth sometimes between the two when doing larger studio work. Just for a change really. But only use oil en plein air.
