Beacon Hill parks garry oak ecosystem under a
blanket of snow. This area was once a major food
gathering area for the first peoples of our
region. It is a wonderful thing that it has been saved
from further development for all to enjoy.
When ever I walk among these trees I can't
help but imagine what it must have looked like
here before contact and all that followed.
Oil on board 8 x 10.
Comments always welcomed.

I love the contrast of the two paintings ("Sweet September" and "Winter Morning-Beacon Hill") on the page. You have the present and the hope that soon the flowers will grow again!
It looks like a wonderful area and it is great that it has been saved. Can you sense the spirit of the ancestors as you walk? This happens in AZ, too. Some places have a more powerful suggestion of the ancient ones while others seem totally reserved for wildlife presence, yes?
You've really got a strong technique for painting snow! Lovely.
Beautiful combination of warm and cool and, as always, the wonderful light! (And like Melinda, I enjoy the visual of your winter scene sandwiched between summer scenes.)
Thanks Melinda for your wonderful comment.
Yes I think that spirit energy can be felt and is always around us in such places and it has a different
feel in different locations but I think it is always there.
