Saxe Point Rocks

This is another in a series of small ones I have been doing
featuring the beautiful shoreline of Saxe Point park
that juts out into the Strait of Juan du Fuca
just a short distance from my studio. This is one of three
I have recently painted looking from different
directions, all within a few feet of each other.
This one I did Saturday afternoon under the watchful
eyes of several friendly art lovers.
Oil on board 6 x 6.
Comments always appreciated.

Spring Afternoon

This piece was painted way back in early May of this
year on one of those glorious spring afternoons when the feel
of warm air and sun on your face feels so brand new.
The camas lilies and Garry oaks where in bloom and
the pleasure of painting en plein without
the chill of winter was so special.
Oil on canvas 9 x 12.
Your comments are always welcomed and appreciated.

Woodwynn Grandmothers

A group of outsiders where invited to paint at the
historic Woodwynn Farm a couple of weeks ago.
I couldn't resist these two ancient Garry oaks and
the hay fields around them.
These two sisters would have been large mature
trees before contact in this region and have
witnessed much. You can feel their
life force vibrations when you are near to them.
Oil on wood panel 12 x 9.
Comments are always appreciated and encouraged.

High Summer-Cattle Point

I painted this piece about three weeks ago out at
Cattle Point. It is quite evident in the painting that we
had a cool and cloudy day.
As is normal for this time of year the grasses have died
back and turned almost a golden white
here on the south island..
Oil on wood panel 9 x 12.
Comments welcomed.

Saxe Point Shore

Tide and wind conditions allowed me to set up right on
the rocks at the waters edge yesterday for this painting.
Feeling the hot sun and breathing the moist sea air
while painting this piece I once again felt so thankful
to live within walking distance to this wonderful
spot. Saxe Point Park is a jewel of Esquimalt
and the greater Victoria region.
Oil on wood panel 6 x 6.

Saxe Point Sparkle **SOLD**,

(Canadian west coast Impressionism, Esquimalt BC, plein air oil painting)

A hot summer afternoon and calm seas with
just enough breeze to get that sunlit sparkle.
That was the scene I attempted to capture
here with this plein air piece.
Oil on wood panel 12 x 9.
Comments are welcomed!

Path to Hidden Harbour

This scene brings back many memories of that part
of my life when I lived and worked on the water.
While painting this piece a few of the folks I knew
back then strolled by and we spent some time
catching up and reminiscing. This path is a
well used short cut to both West Bay and
Hidden Harbour marinas on the north west side of
Victoria's inner harbour, all of which you can see
below when you walk the path.
Oil on board 14 x 11.
Your comments are always appreciated!

Moss Street Daisies

I started this piece while manning my site at the
Moss Street Paint-In a few weeks ago. There
where drifts of summer daisies in the front yard
flower beds of the house behind my site.
I've included a couple of photo's below.
Victoria's Moss Street and area has some fine
old homes from the hey days of early 20th
century architecture as you can see in the photo's.
Although I do enjoy painting flowers I seldom do.
So it was a bit of a challenge coupled with
doing it in front of the crowds of fun seekers!
=;-))
Oil on wood panel 10 x 10.
Comments always appreciated.

artist Karen Phipps who's blog link I have
just added to my "artist blog roll".
She is an amazingly dedicated and adventurous
