'Winter Surf',

(Canadian west coast Impressionism, Port Renfrew, winter surfing)

Another studio piece from my Port Renfrew trip.
These two wet suit clad fun seekers were among
the twenty or so out catching waves
in the sparkling surf.
I love to paint light and this piece really
provided a wonderful outlet for that.

I would like to draw your attention to
a wonderful Saskatchewan artist
Nicki Ault. Her work is fresh and
bold, a real inspiration!

The surf picture is really, really nice. The way the water is represented and the figures in the middle make for a great painting.

I like how you played up the white foam - it gives an extra-wintry feeling to th scene.

You'd have to pay me major $$ to get into the ocean in winter, even in a wet suit! I really admire the hardy souls who do it.

I've surfed here and that's just what the beach break can look like. You really have to time your entry into the water to make sure you don't get pounded into the sand and rocks. Great job, love it!

Thanks Lisa...it is a tricky spot for surfers or boaters!
