'Uplands Camas' **SOLD**

(Canadian west coast Impressionism, oil painting of Uplands Park, Victoria, BC, Camas Lily)

Uplands Park in Oak Bay is at its finest right now as
I discovered this morning when I arrived for a paint out.
Beautiful drifts of our native Camas Lily among the
rocky outcrops in this natural Garry oak meadow are
really something to see. While I painted there this
morning it was lovely to sense the spirits of the first
peoples, whose footprints were here thousands of years
before first contact, harvesting the Camas bulbs
as a major staple of their diet.
Oil on wood panel 11 x 14.
Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated!
Jeffrey

Crowfoot, Blackfoot warrior and orator said, "What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset."

This is a beautiful painting, Jeffrey. Your skill dazzles my eyes and inspires me to think about paint, visual elements, and place with atmosphere. Sometimes fleeting like life, but each painting moment marks the heart with its joy at discovery.

I love your quotes so much. I hope this one is a new one that you'll like.

Best wishes for a productive week!

Hi Jeffrey!... Two winners in a row! I love the height and distance that you achieve nicely in your 12x16 inch format - not an easy task on such a smallish format!

I particularly drwn to your historic references and the deep respect you have for early cultures. "I" share your feelings!

A great post!

Good painting!
Warm regards,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce...it's good when they work. I feel very fortunate to be able to walk in those special places and try to create there.

Each time I glanced at this when I saw it as the small thumbnail...I was really taken with the sparkly dots of color that I almost didn't need to see it bigger, if that makes sense...I mean that just the abstraction of it is really beautiful.

Beautiful scene Jeffery! I love the blues and violets in the foreground and the small bit of sky.
