'Sky Castles'

This painting of 'towering cumulus' formations
was done about week ago on a lovely early
evening near the top of Highrock park.
The 'thermal convection' cloud rising in the
background was one of many that were building and
forming all across the horizon in at least three
directions!! Some of them becoming very impressive
anvil clouds. Dear readers I hope you will forgive my
attempt at identifying these clouds if I have
them named incorrectly. I'm a little better at building
'Castles in the Sky' then science.
=;-))
Oil on wood panel 8 x 6.
Your thoughts and comments both scientific or
otherwise are always welcomed!

Love all the values you captured in the clouds!

Thanks Pam...I had a heck of a time getting a decent photo of this piece and I'm still not happy with this one...

I really love this one, Jeffrey. Photographing work is quite a challenge, isn't it? One of my professors, years ago, said that the best photos of artwork are taken on cloudy days. That meant waiting a long time around here! Of course, we can't do that and blog regularly so...we struggle, yes?

Don't let it drive you nuts, though. We can tell it's gorgeous.

Beautiful work Jeffrey! When ever we get homesick for the west coast, we'll stop by. Your sense of light is amazing. Cheers!

Thanks Melinda...your right about that. I find that certain combinations of values and colours don't quite register well in the camera...somehow...I think... =:-0
