right now as they will be haying soon. As well
the light early and late is really fantastic in mid June.
This one was painted yesterday evening and while
I worked I was reminded of the fields around where
I spent most of my childhood. This is a very
important time of year for someone very special to me,
my little sister. Her birthday is tomorrow and I was
thinking about the old days back in Concord, Ontario.
Our place was surrounded by farm fields and small
woodlots and we used to go back in the fields for miles
as if they were our own. We had names for certain
trees and other natural landmarks. I guess, though
we may end up far from where we begin
somehow we really never leave...
Happy Birthday Lisa!!

Hi Jeffrey!... Seems that there are many shared "convergences"
in our separate journeys!
Haying holds a very strong place in my early memories. Many a dusty dry June and July day was passed forking up hay onto a wagon... then raising it with a drop fork into the loft and spreading it. The sweetest part was laying there on that hay mattress... and smelling the sweet aroma of the barn and hay together!
Your paintings evoke those inner memories... "I" thank "You" for that! Hay Fever! HAHA!!
Good painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
You remind me of the reason to visit Nova Scotia in June, besides the lupine...the long days and great light!!
Thanks for commenting on my painting, Jeffrey. I missed you ;)
I was immediately drawn to the thumbnail of this one...love the composition...and those trees in back.
It's a poignant post, too!
Thanks Bruce...wonderful memories!

Hi Prabha...It always intrigues me how certain scents and smells can take you back to a time that is so deeply associated with it...

Hi Jeffrey,
Although I have been visiting your blog, it has been awhile since I stopped to comment. Anyway, this evening I was looking at some new sites and came across "Plein Air Artists". I was scrolling through the artwork section and my eye immediately went to "One Evening In June". A broad smile came across my face and I thought to myself "That HAS to be Jeffrey's!" Sure enough I read the fine print and it was! Congratulations... you stand out from the crowd!
Beautiful!!
Hey Nicki tanks so much for that!
Jeffrey
Thanks Dianne!
