That September Afternoon

This painting was worked up using a smaller piece
I did last fall as a reference. Those wonderful
summer like days of late September last year
seem so long ago right now!
I went with acrylics for this painting as it has
been quite awhile since I last used them and
thought I could use a bit of a refresher.
Acrylic on canvas 30 x 24.

There is so much atmosphere in this painting.. I can really smell the cool freshness of the lake in the background and hear the last leaves whispering in those bittersweet warm september days. The end of summer/beginning of fall is an amazing season!

Thanks so much Nina for that wonderful comment...it was very much as you have described it...we felt as though we had been given one more day of summer...
