This painting was developed from reference photo's I
took while having a picnic lunch here last May. It
was very still and calm, almost as though we were the
only ones there. At our backs Mount Maxwell's cliffs rise
to their dizzying heights creating warm updrafts which
many turkey vultures and swallows were utilizing. As we
sat there scanning our surroundings and breathing in the
briny scents of low tide I could feel the presence of the
spirits that surely spend their eternity here.
Oil on canvas 36 x 48.

why should it not also be full of feels and smells and
things seen through the spirits,
drawing particles from us to them and
them to us like magnets."

Wow. This is spectacular. And, the painting above, "October Shadows", is excellent as well. I especially like the incredible rock on the left.
I've often wondered if others can sense the spirits that seem to inhabit many of the most beautiful landscapes.

Beautiful scene! I think the horizontal slash of turquoise water emphasizes the tranquility. And great job on the boat's reflection!

How did I miss this one?! It's amazing, and really wonderful to see this larger one in comparison to your plein air works.

Thanks Karen...it is really exciting to work large after all those smaller pieces.
