'First Light-Oak Bay',

(Canadian west coast Impressionism, Oak Bay, southern Vancouver Island, oil painting)

This is my second go at this painting. It was
developed from a smaller plein air piece last
spring. However I was never quite happy with
how it turned out. Well today I put it up on my easel
and tried to figure out what it needed and
I think I may have done it this time.
Course who knows what I may think in
couple of days or weeks or...hmmm!
Oil on linen 18 x 14.
Your thoughts and comments are always welcomed!

The first thing that caught my eye in this one was the dramatically big expanse of sky, and how relatively low the horizon line felt. I love having a horizon line really high or low, and find that it can be quite a challenge.
And love those clouds, too...the way the warms/cools work together.

Thanks Karen...I too struggle often with horizon lines. The darn things seem to move on me while I'm painting! =;-/
